Ben's Story

I grew up in the Belair-Edison Neighborhood, which was fairly large, and even though my parents were active in the community association, I didn’t know many neighbors. I played with a couple of neighbor kids, but didn’t really know many other people, even the neighbors right next door. I wasn’t very outgoing, so I didn’t even associate much with my immediate neighbors in my college dorm, even though I shared a bathroom with them. I moved to Chinquapin Parkway a little over a year ago. If it had been a neighborhood the size of Belair-Edison, I might not have even gone to meetings, but even if I had, the people that I met would probably have lived several blocks away, rather than being my immediate neighbors. I now know a lot of people on the block, especially my surrounding neighbors. I became a part of the association, and they even elected me as the association president for this year.
